We’re all a-flutter this week at Cake Geek between feather cakes and now, birdhouse cakes! It’s one of the prettiest cake trends at the moment with two super cute examples above by Sydney’s Cake by Kim (left) and via Pinterest (right).
UK blogger, Torie Jayne has created a tutorial for her pastel pink and blue gingerbread cake design below (made to a gluten-free receipe) which you’ll find here: birdhouse cake tutorial (no longer available).
The Bubble and Sweet blog have featured a beautiful birdhouse cake as part of the vintage birdhouse themed sweet table below.

Aside from gingerbread, a birdhouse cake can also be carved from a full cake, if you need a larger cake for your party. Always at the cutting edge of cake art fashion, Natasha Collins of Nevie Pie Cakes has a wonderful collection of hand-painted gingerbread house designs, including the beautiful owl bird house cakes below.
Below, Torie Jayne demonstrates how to beautifully wrap a birdhouse cake as a gift and what a pretty gift is makes. On the right, London’s Sweet Jeelee’s Cakes, have created a beautiful lavender themed birdhouse, fabulous for a christening for a little one’s birthday.

The Netherlands’ De Koeken Bakkers have created the beautiful hanging birdhouse cakes below which would make a wonderful centrepiece for a lavish sweet table. Below right, we have an almost fairytale-pretty birdhouse cake by the talented Rosie Cake Diva.
Kara Conaty of the Butter Hearts Sugar blog created and styled the beautiful rustic sweet table below with wooden bird boxes accessorising a pastel pink birdhouse cake as the centrepiece for this pretty garden party.

A chic cake design as always by Shereen’s Cakes and Bakes, this time in a birdhouse theme for a christening party. New Zealand designers, Magical Cakes have created its equally pretty counterpart in lemon on the right.

For an exquisite vintage design, Gorgeous Cakes UK have designed with the beautiful floral pattern inspired cake below, with superb hand-painted bird cookies.
The Juniper Cakery have also chosen a terrific colour palette for their birdhouse cake design, in shades of antique jade with a wood effect, together with another fabulously realistic bird model and brightly coloured sugar flower spray.
Our final cake design is by the wonderful Bulgarian cake designer, Cakes by Mina Bakalova who has created a whimsical, fantasy birdhouse in striking primary colours that would make a beautiful and enchanting cake for a children’s party.
