This is a great cake for a gardener or a retiree who hopes to get out in the garden more often. The white picket fence makes a super-cute side design lined with simple, colourful sugar flowers. The soft green shade of icing is perfect for a summer celebration and children would just love the little sugar rabbit peeking through the picket fence! Definitely one to file for later. (Cake by the brilliant Sugar Ruffles blog).
You will find a template here for a picket fence. Just print it off, stick it to a sheet of card and cut around it. Then place your template on top of your rolled out modelling paste and cut around it with a cutting wheel.
And if you really want to go crazy with the “picket fence” theme, Wilton have a range of super-cute picket fence cupcake wrappers on the market! Just check your local cake decorating store or buy online here: Wilton Cupcake Wraps Picket Fence
If you don’t have a bunny shaped cutter, you’ll find a template here to help.
Our featured cake design on the right is perfect for the avid allotment gardener. You have to love this cake by Butter Hearts Sugar with the mischievous bunnies trying to steal the carrots and especially the cute little bunny with his bottom in the air digging for carrots! If you’re making this cake for a party where there are going to be children, you can tell them the bunny is digging for the carrots in the cake and make sure the cake inside is…..carrot cake of course!
