Vintage weddings have taken on a distinctly 1920’s theme this year inspired by the glitz and the glamour of the movie, Gatsby<\/em> based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the roaring 20’s with New York at the centre of the Jazz Age, the Great Gatsby<\/em> provides ample inspiration for a lavish vintage wedding.<\/p>\n

We have two beautiful Gatsby style wedding cake designs above by Cake Goodness<\/a> (via Project Wedding<\/a>, photo by William Innes,<\/a> left) and by Couture Cupcakes Australia (right). Both designs combine vintage glamour and lavish ornamentation including a silver metallic finish (left) and vintage brooch and birdcage veiling (right). Black and white is an excellent colour palette for a Gatsby wedding cake with two chic designs below from The Pastry Studio<\/a> (right) and via Indulgy.com (left) that would be perfect for a vintage black tie affair.<\/p>\n

The 1920s have really been brought to life in the two Gatsby style wedding cakes below, elegantly draped in vintage pearls. (Cake designs by Paul Bradford of Designer-Cakes.com,<\/a> left and by The Caketress, right).<\/p>\n

Susan Garfield of Sugar Art by Susan has created the lavish Gatsby-esque wedding cake design (below left) with chandelier style beaded garlands and antique silver damask.<\/p>\n

To the right, Faye Cahill Cake Design<\/a> have designed a wonderful counterpart with jewelled accents and flapper style fringing that exudes Gatsby glamour.<\/p>\n

Brighton’s Flutterby Bakery have created their take on the Gatsby wedding cake theme incorporating 1920’s style vintage feathers, art deco design and a lavish silver leaf finish.\u00a0 (Don’t miss our Art Deco Wedding Cakes feature later this week and we’ll have more on Vintage Feather Wedding Cakes coming up later this month on Cake Geek<\/em>.)<\/p>\n

To the right is another elegant example of Gatsby style opulence in a jewelled design coupled with vintage lace (via Diana Marie Event<\/a>s & Big Love Photography).<\/p>\n
