With Father’s Day coming up next weekend we thought the timing was just right to showcase some of the most fabulous sports cakes from talented cake artists the world over for all those sports-mad dads.<\/p>\n

One of our all-time favourite sports cakes is Cuteology Cakes<\/a>‘ outstanding baseball cake (above left) with exquisite vintage style detailing and shading.<\/p>\n

And inspired by this design is our second feature cake above, a one-tier baseball cake again with coloring and shading adding wonderful authenticity by All The Kings Horses Cake Creations<\/a> (image by Out of the Box Photography<\/a>).<\/p>\n

A master of blending perfection and simplicity, Erica O’Brien<\/a> has designed this baseball inspired tiered cake design (below left), while on the right, incredible detailing and an angled top tier create a baseball fan’s dream cake by Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes<\/a>, below right.<\/p>\n

On the right below, a topsy turvy cake piled high with all sorts of sporting equipment and memorabilia makes an inspired tiered design for the die-hard sports fan by Lovely Cakes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A basketball, hoop, net and backboard makes an outstanding top tier on this brilliant basketball cake by Mira Que Tarta (below left), while Edible Essence Cake Art<\/a> captures the magic on the slam dunk in their basketball cake, right.<\/p>\n

Carving a full-size basketball from cake is no mean feat but one that has been achieved to perfection by Liz Shim of Eat Cake Be Merry<\/a> below left, while Val’s Custom Cakes<\/a> prove their sporting cake prowess with a basketball hoop cake on the right.<\/p>\n

An American football helmet makes a terrific 2D cake topper for this stylishly designed football cake by Rachel Teufel of Intricate Icings<\/a>, below left (image by Shalynne Imaging<\/a>).<\/p>\n

A cake colour scheme coordinated with a team logo cut-out and bold lettering makes a striking sports cake tribute below from Peggy Does Cake<\/a>.<\/p>\n
