As spring turns to summer at the end of April, the wedding season is heralded in by the pink floral “clouds” of the cherry blossom tree for those lucky enough to have them in their gardens or neighbourhood. Loved the world over for their delicate pink flowers, the cherry blossom disappears all too quickly leaving a pink floral carpet in its wake and for this reason, it is symbolic in Japanese culture of the ephemeral nature of life.<\/p>\n

On the left above, Custom Cakes and Cookies by Albena Petrova<\/a> have designed the most elegant of wedding cakes inspired by Paris in the spring and dressed in trailing cherry blossom branches.<\/p>\n

Maggie Austin<\/a> has captured the beauty of the cherry blossom perfectly as always in her captivating sugar floristry (above right and again below) with the blush pink of the cherry blossom blending fabulously with the greyed-blue fondant frills.<\/p>\n
