The Smurfs is one of Cake Geek’s favourite cartoons since childhood and this Smurf cake has to be one of the best cartoon cakes we’ve seen. It’s by DeviantArt contributor, Timtendo and it’s just magical!
The toadstool house is made from cake and the landscape is created with frosting and piping gel. You can make a toadstool shape cake easily if you have a giant cupcake tin – you just stack the two ends of the cake as demonstrated here (no longer available). Giant cupcake tins are available from local cake decorating stores or online here: Eddingtons Giant Cupcake Pan
The Smurf figures in this cake are actual toys but there’s a wonderful tutorial here by Nicholas Ang on how to make your own sugar Smurf figures.
We have two more fantastic Smurf cakes featured below, precision perfect in their depiction of one of the Smurfs’ best loved characters – Brainy Smurf. The Smurf cake on the left is by Cakes Decor contributor, Giada and on the right, by New Zealand cake designers, Bake-A-Boo.
Finally, we have two great Smurf cake tutorials for you below – the first on how to create a Smurf house by Monica Manca and the second, a tutorial on how to make the Smurfs’ bad guy, the one and only evil Gargamel!! (via Pinterest).
