Edible Lace Wedding Cakes

The advent of edible cake lace has brought a whole new level of convenience to wedding cake decorating. While its customization options are limited, its quick and easy application makes it a no-brainer when it comes to commercial cake decorating.

To help you learn how to work with edible lace, we have a tutorial here from Joshua John Russell teaching the tricks of the trade: edible lace wedding cake tutorial.

This week we’re taking a look at some of the most elegant edible lace wedding cakes from top cake designers.

Exact tone-on-tone shades of ivory create a seamless blend between cake lace and frosting in this sugar rose and magnolia topped cake trimmed with antique gold sugar pearls by Sugar Couture Cupcakes and Cakes, above left.  On the right, an exquisite pairing of lavender and pink makes an exceptionally pretty edible lace wedding cake from Sweet As Sugar Cakes.

One of the most chic wedding colors of the moment – dove grey – paired with an abundance of soft pink roses and adorned with mesh lace makes for a stunning wedding cake by Roses by Moonlight.

Curtis and Co. Cakes never fail to inspire us whenever we take a look through their latest wedding cake designs and this glamorous 1920’s inspired wedding cake is a perfect example with vintage edible lace fabulously customised with extra hand-piped details.

Shades of gold and blush pink make one of the prettiest colour palettes whether it’s baby pink roses with antique gold (by Sugar Couture Cupcakes and Cakes, below left) or pale gold/champagne lustre with marshmallow pink peonies (by Cotton and Crumbs, below right), just add a border of edible cake lace and your in vintage wedding cake heaven.

Edible lace trim along the top tier of this beautiful peach and cream wedding cake creates a wonderfully antique style wedding cake silhouette by Jelly Cake, below left. On the right, Hilary Rose Cupcakes go all-out vintage with scalloped lace trim, a pearl cluster and magnificent sugar peony.

One of the key elements of Albena Petrova’s incredibly beautiful beaded Eiffel Tower wedding cake design is the tier covered in vertical edible lace panels in a soft grey shade, giving added feminity to the overal design by Sweet Temptations Custom Cakes & Cookies (image by Anda Panciuk).

Entire wedding cake tiers covered in edible cake lace makes for a most elegant backdrop for this cascade of peach roses and draped pearl beads in the design below by Nadya’s Cakes and Bakes.

Edible cake lace trim in peach is complemented with a matching cake lace bow in this pretty summer wedding cake by Susanna’s Custom Cakes below (image by Haley Photography, Canada).

Edible lace adds an unmistakable bridal touch to these wedding cookies by Cake Envy, Melbourne (below left). On the right, edible cake lace is used to wonderful effect in this couture wedding cake design via The Cake Decorating Company.

Fabulous palettes of dusky pink and carmel tones make the most beautiful starting point to showcase exquisite sugar floristry and vintage lace cake designs from Leslea Matsis (below left) and Cotton and Crumbs (below right).

Curtis and Co. Cakes demonstrate the versatility of edible cake lace below with extra hand piped details including pearl swags adding beautiful customisation to this vintage lace wedding cake.

Miniature sugar doilys make a pretty lace garland on this vintage blue and blush pink wedding cake (below left), with layers and layers of edible cake lace creating a unique fabric effect wedding cake by Caroline’s Celebration Cakes, below right.

A cute posy of pink roses with beautifully coloured rose leaves makes a perfect match with this lace wrapped two tier wedding cake from the Sophie Bifield Cake Company, below left. On the right, Sweet Little Cakes adorn a rainbow of pastel tiers in pearls and lace for a pretty blossom-strewn summer wedding cake.
