Making a gingerbread house is one of the most magical gifts you can give your children at Christmas. It never fails to enchant both adults and children alike, and the best part is, it’s so much easier to make than you think.

The fabulous pink gingerbread house above is by the exceedingly talented Marian Poirier of Sweetopia. Marian has very kindly posted full instructions for this gingerbread house on her blog: how to make a gingerbread house.

Above right, we have three super pretty, girly gingerbread houses designed as part of a special “Christmas tea” by Courtney D. on Catch My Party.

Below left, we another fabulous candyland gingerbread house (via Pinterest). And on the right, gingerbread house expert Sassy Beautimus has created a beautiful continental masterpiece that looks almost as if it stepped straight out of the Hansel and Grettel fairytale.

If you’re short on time for decorating and want to keep it simple and traditional, we have two beautiful and simple gingerbread houses below, plus tutorials, from Globe Trotter Diaries (below left) and from Butter Hearts Sugar (below right).

If you love the festive colours of red and white, Layla Pegado has instructions for her superb gingerbread house (below left): how to make a gingerbread house.  To the right is another fabulous example from Sweetopia, complete with festive swirly pops.

If you’re planning a large get together this year, then a tiered Christmas cake might be a better option, but you can still have your gingerbread house – as the cake topper! The beautiful festive cakes below from Pinterest (left) and from the Cinncy Houses of Hope charity(right), show exactly how it’s done in the best festive style.
