Naked cakes are one wedding cake trend which evokes mixed reactions from decorators – those who adore them and those who start to miss their fondant if separated from it for a little too long. Either way, their huge popularity with brides means naked cakes are here to stay and even if you aren’t a huge fan from a decorator’s perspective, this week’s showcase might just change you’re mind…..
The pared down chic of the naked cake (which technically has morphed into the half-dressed cake/semi naked cake with a light skim of buttercream being preferred by many designers to a completely naked finish) lends itself perfectly to a woodland wedding theme. Sugablossom and Sweet Love Cake Couture demonstrate this perfectly above (left and right respectively) with bunches of woodland fern capturing the beauty of the woodland setting.
Voluminous white florals and an abundance of foliage create a show-stopping display on these two fabulously bridal naked wedding cakes also from Sugablossom below.
