Whether rustic charm or seasonal elegance is your design preference for the holidays this year, we’ve got it all wrapped up this week when it comes to christmas cake design inspiration.
Starting with Portugal’s Have Some Sugar, Margarida Abecassis blends an elegant design motif with a rustic winter display for her fabulous christmas design, above left. On the right, Lina Veber brings her signature combination of old fashioned lace paired with stunning sugar flowers to her festive creation, trimmed with seasonal red gingham ribbon.

Tracey James too of Cotton & Crumbs brings the elegance of gold lace to her uber-stylish christmas cake design below left, bedecked with sugar baubles and seasonal red. On the right, Scandi chic is the perfect winter design motif for Cotton & Crumbs second christmas cake design.
When it comes to Christmas baking and cake decorating, Sarah Jones of The Chocolate Strawberry dreams up some of the best and most original christmas cakes designs, with her fabulous seasonal sweater and scarf inspired design below left, and right – the coolest reindeer cake around.
A fantasy inspired reinder motif makes a stunning centrepoint on another of The Chocolate Strawberry’s christmas cakes below left, while on the right, Jonathan Theuma of JT Cakes blends rich cranberry red with black icing to fabulous effect in his Santa topped design.
For those who aren’t fans of the classic rich fruited cake at Christmas, a luxurious chocolate cake cannot be beaten and Susanna Righetto creates a splendid chocolate centrepiece for the holidays trimmed with gold macarons and festive poinsettia (image via Cakes & Sugarcraft Magazine, below left).
A sugarcrafted pair of christmas crackers makes a perfect christmas cake topper in the stylish red and white christmas design below right by The Cake Spa, UK.
A snow-covered alpine chalet with beautifully illustrated handpainted plaques is a Nevie Pie festive classic by Natasha Collins (below left). On the right, another seasonal chocolate cake bedecked with gingerbread men and women and a seasonal red looped sugar bow from Madame Gateau Cake Boutique.
A seasonal holly sugar spray and red glitter ribbon makes a chic and simple christmas cake decoration from Betty’s Bakery Molecular Sensations (below left), while on the right, an expertly sculpted cake morphs into a happy holiday snowman from Crumbs Cake Boutique.
A selection of holiday cupcakes in red velvet, chocolate and vanilla make an elegant baked gift with chic holly berry sprays and snowflake decor from The Pastry Studio (below left). On the right, Liz Shim of Eat Cake Be Merry brings her piping magic to the beautifully coloured seasonal garland buttercream cakes in rich burgundy and greens.

The classic figure of Saint Nicholas and a resting reindeer bring old world christmas charm to this magical cake below from Le Torte di Renato.
Silver and white and is our colour crush this winter and Pearls & Lace have created a beautiful christmas bauble cake design (below left) in this simple and elegant palette. On the right, Deb Williams showcases her imagination and artistry in her enchanting christmas woodland cake below.

Japanese “temari” cakes have been popularised by Makiko Searle of Maki’s Cakes and are especially popular as Christmas bauble cakes, with a stunningly piped pastel selection designed by Cotton & Crumbs, below.
This little fawn cake simply took our breath away when we first laid eyes on it, with a chunky knitwear textured design creating a magical winter frame for a beautifully painted baby deer – a design masterpiece from Martina Bliedung of Floralillie.
For a change from seasonal red, why not mix it up a little this year as Alix Fauvel has done with her unique purple design below, topped with a stylish white poinsettia flower and green foliage.
